Dixie is an 8-month-old husky mix weighing approximately 25 lbs. Her stunning blue eyes are sure to capture your heart! Dixie and her mom were found on a rainy day near a highway, thankfully a kind Samaritan rescued them and brought them to safety. Dixie's mom, a spaniel mix, has already found her forever home, and now it's Dixie's turn! We don't expect Dixie to get much bigger, as her mom was only 30 lbs full-grown. Dixie is learning commands and is incredibly smart and eager to please, so with a little one-on-one attention, she'll be a pro in no time! She absolutely loves other dogs and gets along wonderfully with both small and large pups. Dixie is currently in a temporary sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border and is learning to build trust with humans.
Ideal Home
Dixie would thrive in a home that is patient, understanding, and gentle. A home with another dog would be ideal, as it would help her gain confidence. If a canine companion isn't possible, providing opportunities for playdates or doggy daycare would be a great alternative.
Ongoing Health
Dixie is spayed, heartworm negative, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, microchipped, and has been dewormed. She will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to transport.
Training & Support
Dixie is kennel trained and is working on mastering commands. She is very smart and motivated to learn. She is also learning to play with toys and enjoys them!
