Tommy is an 11-month-old, 60lb Pyrenean Mountain Dog and Labrador Retriever mix who is neutered. He's estimated to reach around 80lbs when fully grown. Tommy is an incredibly affectionate, gentle, and goofy puppy with a lot of energy. He loves to cuddle, carry toys, chew on bully sticks, and run around outside. His foster parents describe him as a "warm hug" because of the way he leans into you when he's happy. Tommy thrives with structure, patience, and a calm environment, and he deeply desires to connect with and please his people. He's a sweet, affable, curious, and loving dog who is sure to become an incredible family dog and companion.
Ideal Home
Tommy needs an adopter with intermediate dog ownership experience. He requires significant structure, at least 90 minutes of exercise daily, and ongoing mental stimulation through training and brain games. His adopter must have prior experience with a similar breed, temperament, or energy level. While puppy experience is a plus, time and patience are essential as he adapts to his evolving needs. Tommy would do best in a home with adults or children aged 8 and up, as puppies can be mouthy and unintentionally rough during play.
Ongoing Health
Tommy is currently healthy. He has received his DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, is microchipped, and has been treated with a dewormer.
Training & Support
Tommy is doing well with leash manners and is no longer in a mouthing phase, but he needs ample opportunities for chewing. He has overcome separation anxiety and is crate-trained, sleeping soundly in his own room. While he is learning to greet people without jumping, he will benefit from continued training. He is eager to please and smart, making him a great candidate for rewards-based training. He is also adjusting to city life and is resilient, though he may startle at loud noises. Patience is key for potty training in the first few days.
