This tiny bundle of fluff is Fondue, a 5-week-old Chihuahua mix puppy who currently weighs a mere 1.5 pounds! We estimate she'll grow to be a petite adult, around 8 to 10 pounds. Her mom, who weighs 10 pounds, appears to be a Chihuahua and Italian Greyhound mix. Fondue is the only one in her litter with long fur, leading us to wonder if she might have a touch of Pomeranian in her lineage. Regardless of her exact mix, she's undeniably adorable!
Fondue and her littermates were rescued along with their mom from a difficult situation in rural New Mexico. Thankfully, our rescue partners stepped in, and we were able to bring this sweet family to safety. Fondue is still with her mom and siblings, learning all the crucial puppy behaviors that will help her grow into a happy and well-adjusted dog. Because she's so young, she won't be ready to join her forever family until July 9th, when she reaches 8 weeks old.
Ideal Home
Fondue is looking for a family who is ready for the joy, training, and occasional puppy antics that come with a young dog. Puppies require patience, consistency, socialization, and lots of love as they discover the world. She would do best in a home with someone who works from home and has the time and energy to dedicate to training a young puppy. We would be comfortable with her joining a family with children aged 6 and older.
Ongoing Health
As a young puppy, Fondue will have received her first vaccination before adoption. It is crucial that her new family ensures she receives her second and third puppy shots on schedule. She cannot go to public places until she has completed her final booster shots. Fondue is too young to be spayed at this time, but Farfel's Rescue will cover the full cost of her spay surgery when she is between 6-8 months old. Spaying is required to finalize her adoption, and she must be spayed by her first birthday.
Training & Support
Fondue is a blank slate, eager to learn from a kind and patient human. We require adopters to commit to enrolling Fondue in puppy socialization classes and ongoing training.
