Bandito

Bandito's story is one of resilience and hope. He was found surviving on his own for four months after being left behind in an abandoned house. Eventually, he was safely rescued and brought to a small, dedicated rural shelter in Castroville, Texas. We believe Bandito was once loved, as he arrived already neutered, suggesting he had a family at some point. Despite his past, Bandito is now ready for a new beginning.

At 34 years old and 57 pounds, this stunning Blue Heeler is not what you might expect from the breed. He's a calm, observant soul who prefers to quietly experience the world by your side. Bandito has shown no aggression towards people and has been friendly with everyone he's met, including during exams and handling. He moves easily and has a gentle, steady presence that makes him feel like he's been your dog forever. He has also shown little interest in cats and has been social and friendly with other dogs when outside his kennel. While he may bark or grumble at dogs passing his kennel, he settles beautifully in open spaces. Perhaps most remarkably, after months of fending for himself, Bandito has no desire to run off. He stays close, checks in frequently, and chooses human company over independence, showing he still believes in belonging.
