Big Mama is an affectionate, athletic, adventure-loving 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier mix who enjoys going on walks and meeting new people! Big Mama was found laying in the middle of the road in a neighborhood, and thankfully a kind couple decided to save her. Unfortunately, they had a pup who was not good with other dogs, and with no plan in place for Big Mama, they had to take her to the local shelter. Being a pittie mix, she was quickly put on the euthanasia list after her stray hold was up. Through the tireless networking of her original finders, we became aware of Big Mama and decided to get her to safety! Big Mama is incredibly people-friendly and loves to cuddle. She can be unaware of her size at times, so when she's zooming around the yard at high speeds, you'd better watch out! When she was staying at her finder's house, she would often jump up on their tall patio table to sunbathe! She loves to lounge around when she's indoors, but once she's outside, it's gametime! Big Mama has done well with most of the pups she's met, but she seems to do best around medium to large-sized male dogs. She tends to be more assertive and dominant with other female dogs, which most dogs don't appreciate, so a home with only male dogs would be best for her. While she does enjoy playing with others, she does not need a doggy sibling to live her best life!
Ideal Home
A home without young children, as she can be unaware of her size and energy level. She would do best in a home with only male dogs, though she does not need a canine sibling.
Ongoing Health
Big Mama was found to be overweight but has since reached a healthier weight of around 60lbs.
Training & Support
Big Mama is potty and crate trained, knows "sit" and "shake," is very smart, and is good on a leash.
