Meet Santana!
This spirited five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier is a loving boy who lights up around people, greeting everyone with adorable happy foot taps and a flurry of kisses. He weighs about 65 pounds and has a medium energy spirit, balancing playful bursts with cozy companionship. Santana's favorite game involves a small rubber tire that he chases in gleeful circles, leaping high to catch it when it spins through the air. He knows his basic commands like sit and stay, comes when called, and enjoys car rides, always eager to be right by your side. Santana is crate-trained and feels most comfortable relaxing in his crate when left alone, as he can become destructive and curious with food if given too much freedom, especially if snacks are within reach. With his golden personality and constant companion nature, he brings laughter, comfort, and a special knack for sensing when someone needs a little extra love. Could this charming boy be the heart of your next adventure?
Ideal Home
Santana would thrive in a loving home where he is the only dog, as he has had ongoing altercations with other dogs, especially male dogs, and requires careful separation to help him feel secure. While he can be selective with dogs, he is very good with people and is affectionate, social, and gentle with both adults and children. With proper introductions and thoughtful management, he has shown he can do better with some female dogs. He would do well with a family who understands large, strong companions and can provide structure, supervision, and consistency. Due to his natural prey drive, a home without small animals is recommended. A fenced yard will also help him enjoy safe, happy playtime while staying active and engaged.
Ongoing Health
Santana is vaccinated and microchipped, and he handles routine veterinary visits well. He currently needs to have a broken upper canine tooth extracted, along with a small mole above his eye that should be evaluated by a veterinarian. His adoption will require that he be neutered by his new family, and our team can provide guidance and resources to support that process.
Training & Support
Santana communicates his discomfort with clear body language and benefits from positive reinforcement training to build calm, confident interactions. He can become destructive and curious with food if given too much freedom, especially if snacks are within reach.
