Flora is a playful and energetic 3-year-old, spayed female Carolina Dog mix who weighs 46 pounds. She loves to wrestle and be chased, and could play for hours! Flora is affectionate and a total love bug who enjoys snuggling. She is smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive. While she can be a work in progress, Flora will reward you with love and companionship for years to come!
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level, or as the only pet. She adores the 8-year-old child in her foster home but is nervous of new children. Flora also experiences stranger danger with new people, especially when they move quickly, so she may prefer an adult household at this time. A moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions and someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Flora has shown some anxiety in her crate at home. However, she has been crated with no issues when in boarding. She is fed separately from the other dogs in her foster home. Flora is terrified of storms and will seek shelter or bury her head in a lap.
Training & Support
Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior using positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli, and she walks much better in calm environments. She will need consistent training to help her with her leash skills and feeling safe around new dogs and stimuli. Flora needs gentle reminders to take treats.
