About Loki
Loki is a brave, bold, and endlessly entertaining 6.5-month-old Retriever/Pit Bull mix who is estimated to be around 40 pounds and expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the woods with his mom and siblings and has grown up loved and cared for in a foster home. Loki is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to investigate new things and bravely announcing his presence. He approaches life with confidence, curiosity, and a sense of adventure, often found conquering furniture or playing keep-away with his favorite toys. Loki is potty trained, though a few accidents may happen as he adjusts to a new routine. He can be a little hesitant with new experiences but quickly overcomes it. He loves food and will always make sure he's at the front of the line! After a day of play, he transforms into a cuddly lap buddy who just wants to snuggle. Loki loves people and other dogs and has greeted adults and children happily at community events. He's done well in a crate for short periods and has been around children, but his compatibility with cats is unknown. He is continuing to work on leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Loki is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature. He would do best in a home with a resident dog who can mentor and guide him. If you don't have another dog, please provide a plan for continued socialization and training, such as structured classes, daycare, or playdates. Homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are preferred, as he will benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.
Ongoing Health
Loki is a young, adolescent dog and is still learning about the world. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive.
Training & Support
Loki is continuing to work on his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building his lifelong confidence. A resident dog in the home is preferred to help teach him appropriate play, communication, and boundaries. If no resident dog is present, a plan for continued socialization through structured training classes, supervised daycare, or playdates is essential.
