About MILO
Hi, I'm Milo! I'm a small, black shepherd mix and the most adorable little T-Rex you'll ever meet. My foster family says I'm a little bitey, so if there are kids in the home, they need to be ages 13+ because they need to understand that I'm still a baby and going through my teething phase. I'm not biting to hurt anyone; I'm just biting because that's what puppies do, and my foster family says I've shown great improvement in this department. However, I still do bite in play mode and to get your attention. I'm a work in progress, and you would have to continue working with me on this. I'm timid and shy and take a little while to warm up to new people. However, once I'm comfortable, I'm a burst of wonderful puppy energy! I love a good tug-o-war rope competition, and I'm learning to play fetch (most of the time I remember to bring the ball back). I also love to tear up a good empty toilet paper roll or cereal box and rowdy play with plush toys. I've also been really lucky to learn gentle play from a large senior Australian Cattle Dog and her spicy senior Chihuahua friend. At first, they wanted to eat me, but now we rumble and tumble around the house during playtime, always ending in a nice long nap! If you have another dog, I probably need to be slowly introduced to them because I'm going to be super excited and in their face for the first few days until we get to know each other. I've been around cats and have learned to stay away from them; they can be really mean since they don't know how to play nice with me! I bark at them a few times because I want to play, but usually, I give up and find something else to do instead. My foster family thinks that with time, I can probably grow to like cats and get along with them nicely. I sleep through the night and am crate-trained too! I'm still using puppy pads to go potty, and my foster family is starting to work with me on going potty outside. You will have to continue this training. I need a lot of potty breaks throughout the day as I learn this new "potty outside thing." I've been an inside puppy my whole life and have only been left alone for a maximum of 3 hours, crated. When the humans come home, I have so much pent-up energy because I spent all that time napping! I eat two nice big meals, one in the morning and one in the evening, because I'm a growing boy! My foster family thinks I'm going to be between 40-50 lbs when I'm fully grown. I'm currently 22 lbs at 3 months old. I go to bed every night snuggled in a fluffy fleece blanket in my crate with my favorite toy, Brown Dog. I'm in bed by 8:30-9 p.m. and like clockwork, I'm up by 6 a.m. and ready to eat!
Ideal Home
Milo is looking for a home with children ages 13+ who understand puppy behavior and teething. He needs an owner who is patient and committed to continuing his bite inhibition training. He would likely do well with other dogs if slowly introduced, and while he is currently wary of cats, with time and positive reinforcement, he may learn to coexist with them.
Ongoing Health
Milo is a growing puppy and currently using puppy pads. He will need continued training for outdoor potty breaks.
Training & Support
Milo is still working on his bite inhibition and needs continued training in this area. He is crate-trained and sleeps through the night. He is also working on potty training outdoors.
