Essex

Essex is as close to a cockapoo as they come, according to his DNA! This approximately 5-year-old, 10-pound bundle of energy will amuse himself for hours playing with his toys and loves racing around the yard. He also enjoys a good romp with other dogs, though he can be a bit bossy, and would do best as an only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion. Essex walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, but he does have a tendency to mark other dogs' beds. He's a very precocious and alpha little dog who needs an experienced owner who understands how to manage his charmingly dominant personality. When he came to us, he was very matted and had to be shaved down to the skin, but his coat is filling out beautifully now!

Ideal Home

Essex would be a wonderful companion for someone older who can appreciate his playful spirit and manage his alpha tendencies. He would do best in a home without children under the age of 8.

Ongoing Health

Essex was previously matted and shaved down, but his coat is now growing in nicely. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and monthly preventatives.

Training & Support

While mostly house-trained, Essex occasionally marks other dogs' beds. He is described as a very precocious and alpha dog, so he would benefit from an experienced owner who can provide consistent guidance and training.
