Sentry is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from a rural area outside of Houston with his mother, Wanda, and his littermates. Sentry is a happy, affectionate, and playful puppy who loves people, other dogs, and life itself. He's goofy, endlessly loving, and will greet you like you're the best part of his day. Sentry is potty trained and is growing into a confident and well-rounded dog. He is outgoing, friendly, and always ready to make new friends. Sentry has been raised with his littermates and mother and loves playing with other dogs. He has done well with children and happily accepted attention from adults and kids alike at a community event. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Sentry. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, which might include structured training classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, supervised daycare, or other safe opportunities for positive canine interaction. Because Sentry is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
There are no specific health conditions mentioned for Sentry.
Training & Support
Sentry is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization is very important for a dog his age to build lifelong confidence.
