Meet Django!
This bright two-year-old mixed breed is a handsome boy with a sleek black coat and thoughtful eyes. He's a medium-sized dog, around 50 pounds, and is an active, intelligent companion who forms deep bonds with his people. He celebrates their return home with pure joy, making it feel like the best moment of the day! Django thrives when he has both connection and purpose. He loves to cuddle and lean in for affection, often curling up for a cozy nap once he feels comfortable and safe.
Adventure is also a big part of his life! Django adores toys of all kinds, and anything that can be tossed for a game of fetch quickly becomes his favorite treasure. He enjoys walks, runs, and swimming, proudly carrying a stick or ball as if it's his important job for the day. His intelligence shines through in his love for training and learning. Django already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and ok as a release cue. Practicing these skills with positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django experiences fear-based reactivity in certain situations, such as unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, or when encountering other dogs on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support from an experienced pet parent. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog around food, toys, or personal space, and there was one minor nip incident involving an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence!
