Merle Dawson is a visually stunning and joyfully enthusiastic 5-year-old, approximately 47 lb pittie mix. His mesmerizing merle coat, floppy ears, and captivating mismatched eyes (one blue, one brown) are just the beginning. Merle is pure sunshine and love, convinced everyone he meets is his new best friend. He greets everyone with a wagging tail and an irrepressible urge to shower them with affection. He thrives on being included and is happiest when he's by his people's side, soaking in every moment. Merle has a history of enjoying the company of children, even those as young as 5, and has shown himself to be an easygoing and gentle companion. He's a curious boy who enjoys puzzle toys and lick mats, but his greatest joy is simply being with you.
Ideal Home
Merle would thrive in a semi-active home where he can be an integral part of the daily rhythm, whether that's running errands or relaxing at home. He would do best in a home with a large, fenced backyard rather than an apartment, giving him space to stretch his legs and enjoy the outdoors. While he has shown he can coexist with easygoing female dogs, Merle truly shines as the center of attention in an only-dog home, as his priority is his people.
Ongoing Health
Merle is a rescue dog, and as with any rescue, his exact breed and age are not guaranteed. All medical history, including vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention, microchip, and a health certificate, is included in the adoption fee.
Training & Support
Merle is treat-motivated and eager to please, making him a joy to train. He walks fairly well on a leash with minimal pulling, mostly out of excitement to greet friends or embark on an adventure. He is currently working on basic commands like "sit" and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training, which will also serve as a wonderful bonding experience.

Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (with pickup options in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT). You will be able to track his journey in real-time. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
