Calypso

Calypso is a 5-year-old beauty who has some special needs, both physical and behavioral. The physical part is epilepsy, for which she is now on daily medication that is pretty much under control. Behaviorally, Calypso requires a very specific home. She is extremely skittish and shy and would not do well in a home with children, or a noisy environment. Calypso needs time to warm up to people and will let you know her boundaries. While she has learned to trust her foster family and even enjoys playing fetch, she is not suited for a busy home or novice owners, nor is she a dog that can be taken to public places or social gatherings. Calypso would make a lovely companion for someone who understands that some dogs love in different ways. She will need a compassionate veterinarian and grooming staff who understand the importance of trust and patience, and a special person who can provide a quiet home and respect her need for a safe space when visitors are present. Calypso enjoys the company of her person and will happily sit beside you, but she also values her alone time.

A quiet home with adults only, where visitors are rare or managed with care, and her need for personal space is respected.

Training & Support

Calypso is skittish and shy and needs time to warm up to new people. She will communicate her boundaries regarding touch. She is not suitable for novice owners.
