Huck

Huck is a handsome boy, about 2 to 3 years old, who is currently being fostered in Matawan, NJ. He's a sensitive soul who is making great strides in building his confidence. Huck enjoys a good chew toy and is learning to feel more comfortable in his home, often sticking to his favorite safe spots. He's also quite the explorer, initially preferring to drink water from outdoor sources, but he's now getting accustomed to indoor options, even trying a glass! He has a curious nature and likes to join in on human activities, like an invitation to dinner or a curious sniff of coffee. Huck is quiet, sleeps through the night, and doesn't mind loud noises like vacuums or lawnmowers. However, sudden noises like dropped phones or loud trucks can startle him, causing him to retreat to his safe space. He's making progress with house training, with only one incident reported when fireworks were set off. Huck is also showing he can ride well in a crate during car rides.

Ideal Home

A patient home would be ideal for Huck, preferably with a securely fenced yard where he can safely explore. He would do best in a home without young, energetic children who might inadvertently scare him with their boisterousness.

Ongoing Health

Huck is up-to-date on vaccinations and has been neutered.

Training & Support

Huck is not a mean bone in his body, but he is a flight risk initially and needs time to settle and build trust. He can pull on the leash when excited, but it's manageable. He hesitates a bit over door thresholds. He's been quiet and is sleeping through the night. While he's been house-trained, he did have an accident due to fireworks. Crate training will be assessed.
