William Shakespaw is a goofy, energetic pup who loves to be by your side, whether it's laying at your feet or offering a gentle lick. He's curious about the world and enjoys walks and playing with his toys. Having spent about a year in foster care, William has learned and thrived, showing he's good with other dogs, though his exuberance might be a bit much for senior pups. He's been gentle around small children, even taking treats from their hands, but he's still learning to be aware of his size. William is kennel and potty trained, and walks well on a leash. He's working on his manners, and while he can get excited and "sprinkle," a belly band helps manage this. He's treat-motivated and eager to please, showing no food aggression and backing down when corrected by other dogs. He prefers to "howl" rather than growl at the mail carrier. William has been a dream when his foster mom works from home and would make a wonderful, attentive companion. He readily goes into his crate with a treat and sleeps quietly through the night, enjoying his cozy dog bed. William was rescued as a stray in Spring 2022 and spent much of his first year in a shelter, where he became stressed and anxious. Thankfully, a foster family gave him a chance, and he's now a happy, thriving young male with a shiny black coat, a tuxedo chest, and adorable spotted paws.
Ideal Home
An outgoing, outdoorsy family with older children would be a great fit. He'd also enjoy having a younger canine sibling to play with. A strong, patient handler who can help him mature and grow would be ideal.

William is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative, and neutered.

William is kennel and potty trained and walks well on a leash. He is still perfecting his manners and can get excited, sometimes leading to "sprinkling," but a belly band helps. He is treat-motivated and learning to be a very good boy, with zero food aggression.
