Dalton is a handsome 6-year-old, 61-pound Hound/Shepherd mix with a calm, gentle personality that makes him an exceptional companion. We believe Dalton had a loving home before coming into rescue. He was found already neutered and, even more impressive for a dog in Texas, heartworm negative. Since heartworm prevention must be given consistently, we feel confident that someone cared for him and kept him protected. Unfortunately, despite that good start, Dalton still found himself in need of a second chance. Since joining our rescue, Dalton has been living in a foster home with a work-from-home foster mom, her teenage daughter, and Danica, the Terrier mix he was rescued alongside. While he gets along well with Danica, he isn't dependent on her and would do just as well as an only dog or with another friendly canine companion. Dalton is the definition of easygoing. He enjoys lounging around the house, cuddling with his people, relaxing nearby while you work or watch TV, and taking leisurely morning walks before the day gets too warm. If you're looking for a dog who prefers quality time over constant activity, Dalton is the perfect match. He is affectionate, loyal, low-maintenance, and ready to spend his golden years as someone's faithful best friend.
Ideal Home
Dalton would do well as an only dog or with another friendly canine companion. He needs a home where he will be home more than not. A secure fence is required if you live in a house, and all poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.
Ongoing Health
Dalton is heartworm negative and was found to be neutered. All dogs are on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Dalton is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained (though he doesn't really need one). He is well-mannered in the home.

Dalton is located in Dallas and can only be adopted to Dallas and surrounding areas due to a required home visit.
