Sashimi Roll Folded Ear Fun

Sashimi looks like the beloved side-kick dog in a whimsical, cozy kids book. Between her soft expression and those perfectly folded forward ears that sit in literal dog-eared perfection, she is ridiculously endearing! She is estimated to be around 2 years old, weighs 49 lbs. and appears to be some sort of shepherd mix. Go watch Sashimi on YouTube and you'll see just how special she is! Her foster mom says her favorite thing about Sashimi is how warm and genuinely grateful she is, and how it comes through so consistently in the small moments. She has the sweetest habit of gently reaching out with her paw for attention, not demandingly, not dramatically, just a soft little "excuse me, I love you." It perfectly matches her personality because despite being affectionate and connected to her people, she is never overly pushy or insistent. Sashimi has settled beautifully into daily life, rides wonderfully in the car, loads up easily on her own, then calmly relaxes for the trip like a seasoned little road trip companion. She is also a regular at doggie daycare and genuinely enjoys being around other dogs, especially playful ones who appreciate her active, social playstyle. This is a girl who will thrive with canine companionship.

Ideal Home

Sashimi has a medium-high energy level and would love an active home that includes her in life rather than expecting her to simply decorate the couch all day. That said, she also showed a lovely ability to settle indoors, relax on the couch, and just quietly exist near her people after activity. Sashimi has shown that she can coexist successfully with cats, but she is not a ignore the cat completely kind of dog. She tends to be curious, playful, and a little too social to live with a cat who absolutely hates dogs. She has no intention of harming cats, but because she likes to engage with them, she would do best with confident, dog-savvy cats who have space to escape the playfulness when needed. Having another playful dog in the home also helps appropriately redirect some of her social energy away from the cats. In her foster home, management and slow introductions have been important pieces of her success.

Ongoing Health

All vetting, DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration are included.

Sashimi would thrive with adopters who appreciate smart dogs and are willing to continue helping her build confidence through structure, positive experiences, and continued leash work. She is the kind of dog who bonds hard once she trusts you, and when she does, you get this incredibly loyal, emotionally connected companion with the cutest folded ears you have ever seen bobbing toward you for affection. Our trainers on staff assess every animal, modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready.

Sashimi is located in Texas and we facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travels safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time, see photo updates, learn fun facts, connect with fellow adopters and fosters through our private Facebook event page! A $87 surcharge applies for transportation. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
