Shawnee is proof that sometimes the quietest dogs have the biggest hearts. Around 6 years old and weighing in at about 30 pounds, Shawnee is looking for a loving home where she can finally exhale and feel safe.
Before finding rescue, Shawnee was abandoned in an apartment and tragically ended up on the euthanasia list at a Houston shelter. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped in just in time, giving her the precious opportunity to start anew.
Shawnee is naturally shy and takes a little time to warm up to new people. She needs a patient and understanding adopter who knows that relationships don't need to be rushed. With kindness and tasty treats, you'll soon discover the sweet girl who's been waiting patiently all along – and she's absolutely worth the wait!

Shawnee thrives in a home where her need for a slow introduction is understood and respected. She is being fostered with other dogs and does wonderfully with them, even starting to play and enjoy the outdoors!

Shawnee can be a little spicy at times and isn't afraid to express her feelings, but she's more bark than bite and appreciates having her space respected. Once you get to know her, you'll see her playful and gentle spirit. If you're willing to give her the time she needs, she'll spend the rest of her life showing you just how much it meant, becoming your devoted and cuddly shadow. She has a serious weakness for treats, even as a smedium-sized gal! She is considered medium energy, enjoys adventures, and loves to play with toys.
