Willow is a young Collie/Shepherd mix with a soft fawn coat and touches of black, and an even softer heart. She came into our care as a devoted mother to three surviving puppies, after an incredibly difficult start to life. Willow originally gave birth to a litter of ten in a dumpster, but tragically seven did not survive the cold before she was rescued. Despite everything she has endured, she remains remarkably gentle, sweet, and trusting with people.
From the moment she arrived, Willow has shown just how deeply caring and nurturing she is. She has been an attentive, protective mother to her pups, always focused on their comfort and safety. Because of this, she has understandably been quite protective and not very comfortable around other animals while her babies are still with her. This is likely situational, and may change once her puppies are weaned and she is able to relax and focus on herself again.
With people, Willow is the definition of gentle. She has a soft, calming presence and responds beautifully to kindness and patience. She doesn't push for attention but quietly accepts it, often leaning into soft affection once she feels safe. There is a quiet resilience in her that speaks to everything she has been through, and yet she continues to choose trust.
Now that she is safe and cared for, Willow is beginning to show glimpses of the dog she will become when she no longer has to carry the weight of motherhood alone. She will need a calm, understanding home that can give her time to decompress, adjust, and learn that she no longer needs to be in survival mode.
Willow is looking for a patient home that will let her bloom at her own pace. In return, she offers deep loyalty, quiet devotion, and the kind of gentle companionship that only comes from a soul who has overcome so much and still chooses kindness.
