Yogi is a 5-year-old Lab/Shar-Pei mix, around 63 pounds, with the softest chestnut coat and the sweetest, slightly wrinkled face that always looks like she’s smiling. She has a calm, grounded presence and forms strong bonds with her people — the kind of dog who just wants to be near you, keeping you company. Yogi is friendly and loving, though she may take a few minutes to warm up to new people. Once she does, she’s affectionate, fun, and incredibly easy to be around. She’s the type of dog who settles in quickly and becomes part of your routine without any fuss. She was pulled from BARC in Houston and is ready for a fresh start with a family who will love her the way she deserves.
Ideal Home
Yogi would do best in a home with older, respectful children (10 years and over recommended) and with someone who appreciates a dog who bonds deeply and just wants to be part of your world. She would do well in a house or apartment as long as she gets regular exercise.
Ongoing Health
Yogi is currently heartworm positive and has started treatment. She will need a committed adopter who can continue her care. She is otherwise a healthy, wonderful dog ready for her next chapter.
Training & Support
Yogi is fully potty trained and crate trained (settles easily). She walks well on leash with just occasional reminders. She is a low-maintenance and adaptable companion. Yogi has a moderate energy level — she enjoys her daily walks and some playtime, but she’s just as happy relaxing at home. With other dogs, Yogi can be a bit selective. She does best with calmer, easygoing dogs and prefers more one-on-one interactions over busy group settings. She can also thrive as an only dog. She has been exposed to cats and did well.
