About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup that weighs 7 lbs. She is estimated to be around 20 lbs when she is fully grown. She is affectionate, loving, and absolutely adores being doted on by her humans. Annie is curious by nature and is always the first to investigate new toys, noises, and people. She is naturally curious, observant, and confident, and she thrives on exploring the world around her. She is a social butterfly that loves meeting new people and dog friends. Her friendly and social nature makes her the perfect pup for an active family that enjoys having their fur-baby involved in their everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor is perfect for a family that wants a pup that can adapt easily in different environments and enjoys going on fun family adventures. She is always happy no matter what she is doing as long as she's with her humans. Whether it is playing with the other dogs in her foster home, cuddling with her foster mom, or tossing her toys around the yard, Annie is going to have a good time. She is the kind of pup that can be active, playful, and curious when it's time to have some fun, but also laid back and mellow when it's time to relax and lounge on the couch. She's also great about entertaining herself when her foster mom works from home, by tossing toys around or napping. Because of her adaptable personality, Annie would fit beautifully into a variety of homes. She would love an active family that enjoys taking walks, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and including their dog in everyday activities. At the same time, she would be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles and quality time. As long as she's with the people she loves, Annie is content and ready for whatever the day brings.
Ideal Home
Annie is medium energy, so she is pretty mellow with short bursts of puppy energy. Her favorite activities include mental stimulation games with treats, exploring the backyard, and playing with her toys. She also loves to play with other dogs and her face lights up when she meets a new furry friend. While she enjoys playing with her doggy friends, she's also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys. She has the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and laid-back cuddle bug vibes. She enjoys running, playing, and exploring, but she also loves spending time with her people and soaking up cuddles. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of toys, and she'd be thrilled to have new surprises to keep the fun going, especially as she starts teething. As Annie grows and masters her leash skills, she'll be excited to expand her adventures beyond the backyard. She would love to join her humans for casual neighborhood walks or longer nature trails. Hiking through the woods, splashing near water, or strolling through town, Annie will always be happy to go along for the ride. Annie is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She would thrive in a home with another playful dog, though she would also do well as the center of attention. If she is the only dog, she would benefit from frequent play dates or doggy daycare. She knows how to respect boundaries with other dogs but would probably be too much for a senior dog who isn't used to puppy energy. Annie would do well with kids of all ages, but would love older children who are experienced with smaller breeds and know how to be careful when handling her, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. She has been around kitties and is friendly towards them. She would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before, as she is a puppy and will want to play. Annie's ideal home would be one where she can be included in her family's daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She's also the type of dog that can be happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love. No public dog parks for this sweet girl. She would love to have fun adventures going on outings around town or going to Sniff Spots for enrichment. She would love if her human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, but cannot go 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks, so a dog sitter or day care is recommended if you have longer days at work occasionally.
Ongoing Health
Annie is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and even hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap throughout the day. When she gets older, she would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood as she is carried in her doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment, but she picks up quickly on new schedules and won't take long to adjust. She would love to have a family that is home more often than not because she loves being with her humans, so someone who works a hybrid schedule or works from home is ideal. But she would do well with a dog walker mid-day or going to doggy day care if her humans work out of the home.
