About Apricot

Meet Apricot! This little sweetheart is around 3 years old and a female Yorkie mix, weighing in at 12 pounds. She's a survivor of a terrible hoarding situation where she endured extreme neglect. Despite her past, Apricot is a resilient girl who has made incredible progress and is ready to find her forever home. She's already spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and had a dental cleaning. She's also heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives.

Ideal Home

Apricot needs a special person or family who understands she needs time and patience to build trust. She's shy initially, especially with men, but warms up beautifully once she feels safe. A home with older, calmer children who can respect her boundaries would be ideal. Due to her history, it's crucial that everyone in the home is willing to give her space and not rush her adjustment. She is not potty trained to go outside yet and prefers puppy pads, so a home with a fenced yard or a continued indoor potty pad setup is necessary. She also doesn't like being on a leash, so she needs a home that understands this and will not push her.

Ongoing Health

Apricot is in good health and has had all her necessary veterinary care, including a dental. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions.

Training & Support

Apricot is still working on her confidence and adjusting to new experiences. She's not yet potty trained for the outdoors and is more comfortable using puppy pads. Crate training has also been a challenge due to her past fear. She is not leash trained and is scared to go outside. However, she has shown no issues with resource guarding and is happy to share. Building trust is key, and with time and gentle guidance, she will blossom.
