3 year old Cosette arrived at Heartland after a pretty dramatic rescue mission! One of our volunteers was out running errands and saw some commotion around a truck. She stopped to see if she could help, and was told there was a dog either trapped or hiding underneath. Heartland volunteers stop at nothing to help animals in need, so she just crawled right under the truck, retrieved the scared pup, and called us!
As you can see in some of her photos, Cosette was horribly matted and dirty when she came in, but so nervous that our medical team was only able to do the most basic shave so she could be more comfortable before she had her exam, shots, and went straight to a loving foster home.
Now that she's had time to decompress, Cosette has begun to enjoy playing and cuddling with her foster parents. Her foster mom had this to say about her:
"Cosette is such a darling. She is the perfect pup for someone who is looking for a playful ball of energy and a faithful couch partner when you both get tired. She is a bit timid with new people and environments but warms up quickly and will not want her new friends to leave. She is house trained (on a schedule) and is perfectly happy to be on her own while you are at work. She would do best in a home who is willing to work on showing her the world isn't such a "ruff" place through routine and love. I believe her upbeat personality would fit great for a family."
Cosette may have had a tough time before she became a Heartland dog, but now she's got the foundations of learning how to walk on a leash, go potty outside, play with toys, and trust people. She would thrive with a patient adopter who is willing to give her the time, space (she loves having a crate as a safe space!), and positive reinforcement she needs to leave hiding under trucks in the past for good! We hope you hurry in to give her a chance, she is sure to fill your life with joy in return.
Cosette's adoption fee is $375. This animal is spayed/neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
