Tanuki

Meet Tanuki, a handsome 12-14 year old Akita mix who weighs in at a solid 69 lbs. He's a sweet senior boy who was surrendered because his previous family believed he wouldn't walk or move. However, after coming into rescue, we discovered the real reason was lumbar spondylosis, arthritis, and heartworm disease. After receiving treatment for his heartworms and starting on pain management, Tanuki has undergone a remarkable transformation! He's now happy, comfortable, and truly living life to the fullest, soaking up all the love he can and giving it back tenfold. He's wonderfully polite with other dogs, and we suspect he'd be a gentle friend to cats as well. Tanuki especially lights up for two things: splashing in a pool and a good game of fetch!

Ideal Home

Tanuki would love a home where he can continue to enjoy his golden years. He is good with kids and other dogs.

Ongoing Health

Tanuki was treated for heartworm disease and is now on pain management for lumbar spondylosis and arthritis.

Training & Support

Tanuki is house-trained and appears to know basic commands.
