Grandpa Rocky

Grandpa Rocky is a 10-14 year old, 70 lb Labrador Terrier Mix with a heart of gold and a gentle soul. He was once the 1000th animal to reside at the NYCACC, even making headlines in the @nydailynews! Despite the attention, he remained at the shelter and developed kennel cough. Thankfully, he's now in a loving foster home, recovering beautifully and enjoying his golden years as a snuggle bug. His former family shared that he was adopted 7 years ago from a suspected fighting situation and has been a social, affectionate, and quiet couch potato ever since. He loves being around people, especially in the kitchen, and is accustomed to multiple walks a day. He's not a fan of car rides but absolutely adores wet food. Rocky is a social and loving dog who enjoys making friends and spending quality time with his family.

Ideal Home

Rocky would thrive in a home where he can nap in the same room as his favorite people. He's house-trained and will politely let you know when he needs to go out. He's also a non-chewer and not a barker.

Ongoing Health

Rocky has trouble hearing and is missing some teeth, which causes his tongue to occasionally poke out. He does well with hand signals.

Training & Support

Rocky doesn't pull on walks and usually checks in with his people. While he gets a little excited by other dogs on walks, he's easily distracted and has shown playful behavior with them. He's also fine with baths.
