Gunner is a 3-year-old, 50-pound, black and tan hound mix with a heart full of love to give! He was rescued from a small-town dog pound and is now ready to find his forever home. Gunner is a well-behaved boy who is crate-trained, comes when called, and enjoys car rides. He's a pro at sitting for treats, walks nicely on a leash, and even tolerates baths! Gunner adores human attention and playtime with his doggy friends. Being a hound, he has a keen interest in squirrels and will bark at passersby, but he's otherwise a happy and goofy companion. He does have a mischievous side and has been known to counter-surf and raid the garbage if cabinets aren't secured. Gunner loves to relax indoors, especially on the couch with air conditioning, making him a perfect companion for warm Texas days.
Ideal Home
A home that understands and can accommodate typical hound behaviors like barking at neighborhood sights and a strong prey drive for squirrels. Gunner would also appreciate a home where cabinets are secured to prevent access to the garbage.
Ongoing Health
Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-negative. He receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Training & Support
Gunner is crate-trained and responsive to commands. He will need continued reinforcement for leash manners and management to prevent counter-surfing and garbage raiding.
