Meet Arthur!

Arthur is a 5-year-old, 78-pound neutered Staffordshire Terrier/Retriever mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This handsome boy is the perfect combination of playful adventure buddy and affectionate cuddle companion. He was found roaming a park with other dogs and was brought to the county shelter before joining a foster home. Arthur approaches every day with enthusiasm and is a moderate energy dog who enjoys playtime, exploring, and spending time with his people. He's made successful friends with dogs of various sizes and is good at reading social cues during play. Arthur has also been around cats and pot-bellied pigs, showing curiosity without aggression. He has experience with young children and has done well, but due to his size and excitement, he could accidentally knock over a small child during play.

Ideal Home

Arthur's ideal home is one that can provide regular exercise, structure, and plenty of opportunities to be part of the family. He would thrive with people who enjoy including their dog in everyday adventures. A home that understands his energetic nature and can provide appropriate outlets for his enthusiasm would be perfect.

Ongoing Health

Arthur is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has been neutered.

Training & Support

Arthur is fully house-trained and crate-trained, settling nicely in his crate for extended periods. He rides beautifully in the car and absolutely loves car rides! While Arthur may pull at first on walks, he settles into the routine and does well. He thinks if he can fit, he can sit!

Application Details:

• Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
• Once your initial screen is complete, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat.
• Transports run every few weeks, and Arthur will be on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
• We are a volunteer-run rescue. If you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
• If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please ensure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
• A virtual home visit, personal, and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.

Transporation

Arthur is currently in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS. He is available for transport once matched with an approved adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
