Barney is a small dog with a big personality, weighing in at 13.8 lbs of pure love! He's full of energy and loves to play, wrestle, and zoom around. While he may have some Dachshund in him with his short legs and long body, his spirit is that of a confident, larger-than-life pup. Barney is approximately 2 years old and has a charm that makes him seem even younger. He's a total snuggler when he's not busy with zoomies, though he might need a little guidance on when it's time to wind down. Barney gets along great with dogs of all sizes and has been good with children. He even ignores cats! He's already potty trained, knows to sit by the door to go outside, walks well on a leash, and is crate trained. Barney was found in Oklahoma and is now safe and ready for his forever home.
Ideal Home
Barney needs an active home where he can go on walks and play often. A fenced yard is required to accommodate his adventurous spirit, or he will need 2-3 long walks/runs per day. He should not be let off leash.
Ongoing Health
Barney is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. He received his first injection on June 5th and will receive two more on July 6th and 7th. He will be retested a month after his last injection. During this time, it is crucial that he remains calm. Leash walks only are permitted. The cost of his heartworm treatment is covered by Camp Companion.
Training & Support
Barney is already potty trained, knows to signal when he needs to go outside, walks well on a leash, and is crate trained. He may need some help learning to transition from playtime to quiet time.
