Amber is a gentle senior with a quiet, loving heart, estimated to be around 10 years old. This neutered male, weighing about 46 lbs, has a low energy level, preferring a relaxed and steady pace of life. Amber was rescued from a facility involved in a widely known animal abuse case in South Korea. Despite his difficult past, he emerged with a remarkably soft and forgiving heart. He is calm, gentle, and quietly affectionate, not demanding attention but simply hoping for safety, consistency, and kindness. In return, he offers steady companionship and a peaceful presence.
Ideal Home
Amber will thrive in a home that values calm companionship and gentle routines. He would be best matched with a home that has another friendly dog, as he truly enjoys canine companionship and often prefers dogs over people. Adopters who enjoy daily walks and gentle outdoor time, and a quiet, patient household that allows him to adjust at his own pace would be ideal. He is not ideal for homes seeking an immediately outgoing or highly demonstrative dog, or those with loud or high-pressure environments.
Ongoing Health
Amber is neutered and currently healthy. A small growth near his eye was recently removed and has fully resolved. He has no ongoing medical conditions or known food or environmental allergies. He requires monthly preventatives (Heartgard + Frontline) given on the 1st of each month, which must continue year-round. He enjoys meat-based treats of all kinds and eats Natural Balance food.
Training & Support
Amber is 100% outdoor potty trained and has no barking issues. He had one isolated incident involving the trash when left late one day, but this is not a habitual behavior. He walks beautifully on leash with no pulling and may startle briefly if a car appears suddenly, but does not panic or bolt. He enjoys walks and benefits from regular outings, typically including a light morning walk and a longer evening walk. He is crate-trained and rests calmly in a kennel. He is cooperative and relaxed during baths and tolerant of tooth brushing. He previously lived with a foster who worked full-time and, when completely alone (no dogs), needed 1-2 weeks to adjust and vocalized briefly. When another dog is present, he settles within 1-2 days and remains calm when left alone.
