About Sol

Hi there! I'm Sol, a spayed Lab mix with a big heart and a journey of resilience behind me. I've come a long way, from the streets of Mexico to beating TVT, and now I'm ready to find my loving, furever home. I'm a sweetheart who adores attention and pets, and while I enjoy a good nap, I also love short to medium-length walks each day. I'm pretty laid-back but have just the right amount of goofiness to keep things fun. Soaking up the sun, going for strolls, getting lots of pets, and enjoying yummy treats are some of my favorite pastimes. I'm also a great car companion, usually happy to curl up and nap for the ride. I absolutely adore people and get along well with other dogs. I'm a smart cookie and pick up on things quickly, even barking to let you know what I need.

Ideal Home

I'd do best in a calm, mellow home where I can go on walks with my humans and maybe even visit a lake or beach, as I love being near water! A home without stairs would be ideal due to my joints. I haven't spent much time around kids yet, but I think I'd be great with older ones. Dog siblings are a bonus, but I'm also totally fine being your one-and-only. I'd love it if someone was home most of the day since I'm such a social girl, but I can handle some alone time too. I do have a high prey drive, so I'll bark at bunnies and like to chase cats.

Ongoing Health

I'm mostly potty-trained, but I do have a bit of incontinence. Using waterproof blankets on furniture or carpets and keeping me clean will help a lot. I need regular ear cleanings and monitoring to help prevent infections, and I take baths every three or four weeks to keep my skin healthy. I have some bone degeneration and stiff hips, so I drag my feet just a tiniest bit, but I can still walk just fine! If I ever have a head tremor, a quick treat settles it right away.

Training & Support

I walk nicely on a leash, although I can be a little reactive when I see other dogs, and I'm working on getting better! I also have a bit of separation anxiety, but it's pretty mild.
