Can a dog be an old soul?
Horchata is just so chill and wise for her puppy age that this just cannot be little Horchata's first rodeo.

She is a teeny little girl, and we are still getting to the bottom of her medical needs.
She's just a little wobbly on her back end, so no stairs for this girl.

We know she is a big fan of Frenchies and gentle enough to hang out with her young (human) foster brother.
And, we know that she is a girl of simple needs:
Love
Snuggles
Kisses
Sunbaking
Napping

If that sounds like you, please read on because, even our most chill frenchie's are gonna Frenchie...

They require patience with training, and daily mental and physical engagement, especially when they're young.
They are playful, opinionated, and full of energy, not couch ornaments.
Frenchies thrive in homes that understand the breed and are ready for the commitment.

Additionally, although SUPER cute and so yummy & silly, most of our dogs have come from yucky backyard greeders and so, will 100% need to have owners committed to their unique long-term care, health, and wellbeing.

Here are just a couple of things that we need to ensure every French Bulldog adopter understands and is comfortable with.

All Frenchies MUST HAVE A FULL-SERVICE vet and at MINIMUM an ANNUAL vet appointment. Big-box store vets or mobile/discount shot services are just not going to cut it.

Here's the BIG ONE: thanks to their breeding, ALL Frenchie parents have to be ready to manage and IMMEDIATELY treat an episode of IVDD:IVDD 411

All Frenchie parents must be willing to make the time for daily maintenance and grooming: our Frenchies love their spa time and need (at minimum) all of those folds and crevices cleaned that make them so dang cute. It's a sign of your commitment and care.

Bulldog adopters have to be willing to administer eye drops; all those folds make for grumpy eyelids.

Last but not least, all lucky bulldog parents should expect to manage the ongoing cost of all the goodies associated with loving a bulldog: including but not limited to: high-quality food, eye drops, medicated shampoo, monthly heartworm prevention, fun toys, vet care, and endless scritches and cuddles (This last one is free)

PHEW - that's a list, but these guys are so worth it. Your commitment will be rewarded with the love and joy these Frenchies bring into your life.

Once you go Bulldog, there's no going back to 'regular' dogs

Lovely girl is heartworm-positive, so she must stay close to our vets for her treatment.
Don't worry; heartworm infection is way LESS scary than it sounds, and our team will cover the cost of and provide all guidance for her care.
To see more of our dogs, please go to https://austinbulldogrescue.com to see who is available and to learn how to get involved with ABR.
