Chiquita, also known as Nayla, is a sweet and curious puppy looking for her forever home! She absolutely adores snuggling and napping on laps, but her puppy energy means she's always ready for an adventure. Chiquita is working on her house training and has learned to use a doggie door, though she's still gaining confidence using it independently. She enjoys her daily walks and does well on a leash, especially with a front-hook harness, which helps her navigate as she's learning her surroundings. While she's quiet most of the time, she does have a vocal side when she's excited or wants something! She's proven to be a fantastic companion to her larger foster brother and has also done well with smaller dogs, though any resident dogs should be able to appropriately correct an enthusiastic puppy. Chiquita has been around older children and has shown to be gentle with younger children on walks.
Ideal Home
Chiquita would do best in a home without toddlers or babies due to her young age and her reduced awareness from being deaf and partially blind. A home with a bit more open space would be beneficial for her playful nature.
Ongoing Health
Chiquita is on medication for seizures, and no seizures have been observed since she started the medication. She takes her pills without issue.
Training & Support
Chiquita is learning to use a vibration collar for recall and is a smart cookie who will quickly pick up on touch commands. She needs ongoing positive reinforcement for potty training and confidence with the doggie door. As she is deaf and partially blind, she may not pick up on subtle dog cues and would benefit from patient resident dogs who can tolerate and appropriately correct her puppy exuberance.
