Parker is a quiet, gentle, and easygoing boy who settles into moments rather than rushing them. He has a soft presence and a calm, respectful nature, bringing a peaceful energy to any home. Estimated to be around 2 years old and weighing 21 lbs, Parker appears to be a Portuguese Podengo, but as always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess.
Ideal Home
Parker would thrive in a multi-dog home where he can take his cues from confident, friendly dogs. He enjoys being part of the pack but doesn't need to be the center of attention. He would do well in a house with a yard for exploration or an apartment, as long as it's a calmer, lower-traffic environment, especially during his initial adjustment period. He benefits from a patient, understanding home that gives him space to decompress and adjust at his own pace.
Ongoing Health
Parker is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, and is neutered. He has been treated for flea prevention and receives a 12-month heartworm preventative injection. He has also been tested for heartworms.
Training & Support
Parker is house-trained and sleeps through the night. While he is shy with new people and takes affection slowly, he allows handling without issue and shows no signs of aggression. He is still building confidence on leash and can find new environments overwhelming, but he handles walks without fuss and will continue to improve with gentle guidance and continued exposure. He is the kind of dog who quietly fits into your routine, needing a safe space and time to settle in. Once he feels safe, his quiet curiosity will bloom.
