Norma Jeane is an approximately 8-year-old, 10lb poodle girl who is as playful and spunky as they come! While the shelter listed her as 10, our private vet believes she could be as young as 7, and she certainly acts like a lively, playful gal. Norma LIVES for the ball, and her ideal day would consist of chasing it non-stop with short breaks for naps. An adopter who wants to play fetch with her at least 4 times a day is a must, as ball is life for this little lady!
Norma is wonderful with people, especially young children who are respectful around dogs. She adores the 4-year-old human child she lives with, following him everywhere and playing ball together. She's very sweet to other people, but she's not a cuddler and prefers to play or be independent. If you're looking for a dog to cuddle with, Norma isn't your girl. But if you want an awesome sidekick who's game for anything, Norma is perfect for you! She has a medium energy level; she's not up for super long walks, but she'd enjoy going along for the ride in your arms or a stroller. Once inside with a ball and the AC, it's game on!
Norma has not shown any signs of separation anxiety and is non-destructive when left to roam freely. Her only quirk is that she's not 100% potty trained. She'll go outside if the back door is left open, but if you're not watching and the door is closed, she might have an accident inside as she hasn't quite mastered signaling when she needs to go. She does well in an extra-large crate, her "palace," and never potties in it, making it a great option when her humans aren't home. She's great in the car and loves looking out the window. Norma coexists perfectly with the 3 other large dogs she lives with, acting as if they aren't there. She would be fine in a home with another dog, but she doesn't like overly energetic dogs that invade her space. Another laid-back dog would be ideal, but she'd also be perfectly content as a solo pup! Overall, Norma is a wonderful, lively little girl looking for her BFF to do life with.
Ideal Home
An adopter who wants to play fetch with her at least 4 times a day. She is great with people, especially young, respectful children who play with her. She is good with dogs but does not like high-energy dogs. She would do well as a solo dog or with another laid-back dog.
Ongoing Health
Norma Jeane successfully completed heartworm injections. She was not spayed prior to treatment as heartworm treatment was the priority. Wags will work with the adopter on an appropriate spay date before she leaves our rescue.
Training & Support
Potty training is a work in progress. While she will dance around the backdoor to go out, she may have an accident inside if you don't see her signal. She is crate trained and does not potty in her crate.
