Timmy is a sweet 1 year and 7-month-old boy with some neurologic issues that we are working to understand and manage. He came to us at 11 months old, significantly underweight, and has been slowly gaining strength and weight since. Despite his challenges, Timmy is quite the snuggler and enjoys couch time. He sleeps in an expen at night with another dachshund. Timmy's journey has been a long one, and he still requires significant care and patience.
Ideal Home
Timmy will need a very special home that can continue to work with him. He requires a patient adopter who can assist him with his daily needs.
Ongoing Health
Timmy has neurologic issues that affect his mobility and balance. He sometimes has difficulty standing and moving normally. He also has a small stomach that has made weight gain a slow process. We are feeding him small kibble mixed with canned food to make it easier to swallow, along with mashed food, multiple times a day. He will be neutered once he reaches a safe weight. His adoption fee helps cover vetting, including vaccinations, microchipping, and neutering.
Training & Support
Timmy will bark when he needs to potty, but he sometimes needs assistance getting outside in time. His caregivers carry him out when he barks, and he is usually successful. He cannot get on and off the couch by himself and will need assistance. His feedings take about 30 minutes, requiring patient coaxing.
