About Bear

Meet Bear!

Fostering in San Fernando Valley, CA | Age: vet estimated at 2 years!

Bear is about to become someone's really good dog — and we mean that. This gentle, sweet, and sensitive boy has been an absolute joy in foster care. He handles new experiences with ease, from taking his first bath like a champ to being touched all over without flinching. Bear is a natural on leash, trotting along as if he's done it his whole life. He loves to play with a ball, either solo or with his favorite people, and enjoys a good chew stick. Bear thrives on companionship and has already bonded closely with his foster dad, though he's still adjusting to being left alone for short periods. Once he settles down for the night, he sleeps soundly. Bear is new to this stage of settling in, but his gentleness, easy trust, and eagerness to bond point to a dog who will make any home happier. He weighs about 30 pounds but needs to gain weight, with a target weight of 40 to 45 pounds.

Ideal Home

Bear thrives on companionship and isn't a fan of being left alone, though he settles down after a bit as he continues to decompress and adjust.

Ongoing Health

Bear needs to gain weight and is being monitored to reach a target weight of 40-45 pounds.

Training & Support

Bear is a bit wary of squeaky/crinkle toys due to the noise, but this may improve with time. He is mostly quiet but has been vocal during fireworks and is learning that barking isn't the best way to get attention. He is not a digger and doesn't whine excessively, though he does call out to be found.
