Thomas The Lover Boy

This heart-stealing super-cutie is named Thomas! He's a total goofball and a very people-focused dog who is incredibly loving, amazing with other dogs, and great at playing fetch. Thomas is also kid-friendly and makes a wonderful office companion, happy to lay on the floor and hang out while you work. You might even catch him watching TV now and then! He's a dreamy dog with so much love to give, ready for his forever family.

We believe Thomas is around 3 years old and is a mix of Pittie and retriever. The retriever in him brings a fun-loving fetch enthusiasm, while the Pittie DNA contributes a healthy dose of his people-loving, kid-loving, lap-dog nature. Thomas weighs in at a snuggly 68 pounds, with most of that weight carried in his long legs and big ears. He's a smart boy, motivated by treats, and highly trainable. He already knows commands like sit, down, "leave it," and fetch. Thomas is a gentle treat-taker, making training a joy. He is fully crate trained and enjoys sleeping in his humans' bed if allowed. When crated, he benefits from a chew toy like a Kong. Thomas loves car rides and is eager for adventure! His favorite toys are tennis balls for fetch – he's a "fetch superstar" – and he also enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. Thomas is gentle-lead trained, which helps him walk like a true gentleman.

Ideal Home

Thomas is a people-oriented dog who craves human connection. He is gentle, affectionate, and believes he's a lap dog, built for snuggling. He's great with children of all ages and has excellent house manners, including no indoor accidents. Thomas is a wonderful friend to other dogs and an enthusiastic player, so he will do well with doggy siblings. He reads dog body language exceptionally well and is respectful of other dogs. He enjoys playing with dogs who can keep up with him. We do recommend a feline-free home, as he was a little too interested in the resident cat at the rescue. Thomas loves being outside and enjoys zooming around, so a home with a fenced-in backyard would be ideal. He is also semi-active and would thrive with a family that enjoys outdoor adventures like hiking, camping, and weekend getaways.

Ongoing Health

Thomas is up to date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. He has received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, is flea and heartworm preventative treated, and has been tested for heartworm. He is also microchipped.

Training & Support

Thomas is a treat-motivated and highly trainable dog who already knows several commands. He is a gentle treat-taker and is fully crate trained. He enjoys enrichment toys like Kongs when in his crate. He is gentle-lead trained for comfortable walks.

Transporation

Thomas is located in Texas and can be transported via our USDA licensed transport service to various states, including WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, and Canada. Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA or Brattleboro, VT. You can follow his transport journey on a private Facebook event page. Texas adopters must pick up in the Houston area.
