About Iris D11168
Hi there! I'm basically your shadow with four legs and a wagging tail. If you're looking for a dog who believes personal space is wildly overrated, I'm your girl. My favorite place in the world is right next to my person - on the couch, in the hammock, on a walk, supervising you in the kitchen, or curled up beside you while you relax. I'm a calm, affectionate sweetheart who loves cuddles just as much as I love making people laugh. If you pet me, I will absolutely lean my whole body into you like it's my full-time job.
I'm pretty laid back around the house and totally content lounging nearby with a puzzle toy or squeaky ball, but don't let that fool you - I also love adventures! Walks are my favorite thing ever, and I'm happy no matter how long they are. I enjoy runs, sniffing new things, and playing fetch... although I like to add my own special version called "keep away first, fetch second." One of my funniest habits is proudly bringing my toy back by casually walking past you first like I'm in a parade before finally handing it over. I'm super curious, confident around traffic and new environments, and smart enough to figure just about anything out... which brings us to my next disclaimer.
I'm an extremely talented escape artist. Seriously. Houdini would be impressed. I love my people so much that being left alone is very hard for me, and I do have separation anxiety. If no one is around, I may sing you the saddest songs of my people while trying to engineer my escape from even the toughest kennel setup. But if someone is nearby? I can happily relax in my kennel all day without making a peep. Because of that, I'd thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time - work-from-home humans, stay-at-home families, retirees, or anyone who wants a constant companion would be my dream come true. I should also confess that I'm a bit of a counter surfer and opportunistic snack thief, so keeping food out of reach is definitely part of loving me!
Ideal Home
I'd thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time - work-from-home humans, stay-at-home families, retirees, or anyone who wants a constant companion. I cannot share my space with cats or other small pets. I do best with male dogs and should avoid living with other female dogs as I have had past guarding behavior.
Ongoing Health
No specific health concerns mentioned.
Training & Support
I'm potty trained on a schedule, though may have the occasional accident if unattended. I am great on leash, and I already know how to kennel on command once I trust you. I adore kids and greet everyone with excited tail wags and play bows, but I should mention I don't quite understand that tiny humans may not appreciate surprise face kisses and enthusiastic jumping. I do best with male dogs and should avoid living with other female dogs as I have had past guarding behavior. I'm a bit of a counter surfer and opportunistic snack thief, so keeping food out of reach is definitely part of loving me! I have separation anxiety, so a secure "Alcatraz-level" kennel setup is recommended.
