My name is Evie, and I'm an estimated two to three-year-old, 28-pound girl with a bit of mystery in my breed mix – we're thinking Collie, Shepherd, and Rat Terrier! Despite my uncertain origins, my straight teeth suggest I'm a delightful blend of wonderful traits. I'm a petite medium-sized dog who might think I'm a lap dog sometimes, and while I'm not overly yappy, I do let out a bark to let you know when someone unfamiliar is approaching. I was found abandoned but have since blossomed in my foster home, learning to trust and enjoy life. I discovered a love for chasing and retrieving balls, and I'm a quick learner, picking up commands like "sit," "place," and "wait" with the help of treats. I also come running when you call my name, which my foster mom says is proof of how smart I am!
Ideal Home
I'm looking for patient and understanding humans who can help me navigate new situations. A home with respectful older children is best, as I might try to herd young, energetic toddlers. I also do well with calm cats, but if they run, I get a bit too interested. A confident and friendly dog sibling would be a bonus, but I could also be happy as the sole furry resident. I'm not suited for apartment living; a home with a fenced yard for romps and a daily walk would be perfect for me.
Ongoing Health
I've had a veterinary exam, been spayed, tested for heartworms and Lyme disease, treated for internal parasites, and am up-to-date on vaccinations and flea/tick preventative.
Training & Support
I'm not a fan of crates, as they remind me of a difficult past, but I've learned to use an ex-pen happily with a treat and the command "Evie, kennel-up." I'm working on letting you know when I need to potty outside, sometimes with a whimper or a bark if I'm in my ex-pen. I respond wonderfully to positive reinforcement and enjoy learning new things!
