Bernadette

Bernadette is a sugar-faced and sugar-sweet senior girl who was hoping for a happy ending, but her planned departure never happened. While this may be another disappointment in her life, we're hopeful this can be her last! Bernadette is a low-maintenance companion who enjoys the simple things: snacks and leisurely downtime. Senior dogs truly are awesome, and Bernadette is no exception. She came to us as an abandoned confiscate on March 8, 2026.

Bernadette sounds like she would be a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle and can provide her with plenty of snacks and leisure time.

Ongoing Health

As a senior dog, Bernadette deserves a comfortable and loving environment to spend her golden years. All dogs at Chicago Animal Care and Control are spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.

Training & Support

Bernadette is noted as not being house-trained. Taking the time for slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions is recommended for any new pet, especially after they've had time to decompress from the shelter environment.

• Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
• All household members should be present to meet dogs, especially those under 18 and any decision-makers.
• Dog-to-dog meet and greets can be arranged at the shelter. Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s) is required.

Transportation

Bernadette is located at Chicago Animal Care and Control, 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL. They are open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you plan to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm can still view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.
