Brownie is a 4-year-old, 35 lb. male Labrador mix with a heart full of love and energy to spare! He was rescued as a puppy and bravely overcame a severe case of mange, which left him with some unique scars and patches of white fur. Brownie is a social butterfly who adores people and welcomes visitors with open paws. He's a playful pup who loves attention, hugs, and pets, though his enthusiasm means he tends to destroy toys quickly! He also has a delightful fascination with water and can often be found splashing around. After spending 4 years in a shelter environment, Brownie is dreaming of a home where he can finally experience walks and thrive. He's looking for a committed adopter who can provide the structure, exercise, patience, and love he truly deserves.
Ideal Home
Brownie would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and provide a loving home, coupled with an open mind about the needs and potential behaviors of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly preferred, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer to help this intelligent dog reach his full potential. A high tolerance for and patience with rescued animals is a must.
Ongoing Health
Brownie is up-to-date on all his health protocols, including spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, and a negative heartworm test. He also receives monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. He comes with a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Brownie is very energetic and anxious, with a strong chewing instinct. He knows how to use a crate but becomes very stressed when confined and does not tolerate being crated. He has not yet learned to walk on a leash and can be anxious during transport. He is not house-trained, which is common for many rescued animals who may not have had the opportunity for consistent training. Patience, understanding, and consistent positive reinforcement will be key to helping Brownie adjust and learn.
