Axel is a handsome Boxer mix, approximately 2 years old and weighing 54 lbs. He was found abandoned, but his confident and charismatic personality shines through. Axel approaches life with enthusiasm and a strong desire for companionship and routine. He enjoys exploring on walks, where he starts with a bit of excitement but quickly settles once he knows where you're headed. He's a smart boy who is very food-motivated and learns quickly when given clear and consistent direction. Axel is friendly with people but prefers a calm demeanor and older children who understand personal space, as well as adults who appreciate a dog with a distinct personality. He's social with other dogs, particularly females, but can be a bit bossy during play, preferring calmer environments where he doesn't have to manage everything. Axel is not a fan of cats. At home, he is potty and crate trained, and knows how to settle down after his needs are met. His energy is moderate, and he's content with daily walks and playtime, after which he enjoys relaxing. Axel would be happy in an apartment with consistent exercise or a home with a yard. He's looking for patient, confident, and humorous humans who understand and appreciate his unique personality.
Ideal Home
Axel would do best in a home with laid-back, dog-savvy humans who understand that dogs have quirks and opinions. He prefers older children (10 years and over) and adults who appreciate a dog with personality. He is not looking for a home with cats.

Training & Support
Axel is potty trained and crate trained. He can be a little jumpy and excited on walks initially but settles down. He is responsive to clear and consistent direction and needs owners who can provide calm leadership.

Axel is currently being fostered in Texas. Our rescue provides transport to the perfect forever home, with departures each week.
