Max is a charming 6-year-old, 71 lb Akita/Husky mix with a unique beauty – one striking blue eye and a heart full of gentleness. He's already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and a pro at house training, having not had a single accident in his foster home! Max has a true zest for life; he's an intelligent and obedient boy who's eager to learn and incredibly attuned to the people around him. He already masters most commands and quickly picks up new ones, truly enjoying working with his handler. Max forms deep connections with people, especially when given the time and space to warm up. Once he feels safe, his calm and happy personality truly blossoms.
Max's journey began when he was found at a kill shelter in NY and was sadly placed on the euthanasia list. In that frightening environment, he was hesitant and unsure, preferring to take treats only after people stepped away, showing a desire to trust that just needed a safe space to grow. Thankfully, upon arriving at his foster home, Max began to show his true colors quickly. He accepted a treat directly from his foster's hand and continued to build trust over the following week, blossoming into the comfortable, happy boy he is today who enjoys being around people.
He absolutely loves his walks, exploring new sights and sounds, and going on car rides! Max also has a sweet, playful side and enjoys carrying his favorite toys – his duck, avocado, and little mouse are top contenders. Max thrives with a predictable routine and enjoys relaxing in his crate after his adventures. While he may be a bit shy initially, once he trusts you, he becomes an incredibly loyal and devoted companion.
