Meet Tonka!
Tonka is a big, goofy, lovable Akita with a silly personality and plenty of affection to share. He loves walks, frozen Kongs, puzzle toys, squeaky toys, and any activity that keeps his mind engaged. When he's excited, he's all kisses and enthusiasm, and he's learning his manners every day. He was born in February 2026.
Ideal Home
Tonka is looking for an experienced, breed-savvy adopter who understands the unique traits and needs of Akitas and is committed to providing structure, training, and proper management. He would thrive with an active family and a securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy supervised outdoor time. Tonka has a strong prey drive and is very interested in squirrels and cats, so he may be happiest as the only dog in the home.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations, deworming, and flea/heartworm prevention. A fecal analysis and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) are completed. If the pet is 6 months or older, they will be spayed/neutered. A health exam will be completed and a certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport.
Training & Support
Tonka's ideal family will appreciate his goofy spirit, continue his training, and understand that building trust and maintaining boundaries are key to helping him succeed. Because we're still learning his preferences with other dogs, any introductions should be done slowly and thoughtfully.
