Hi, I'm Rosie! I'm a 10-year-old, under 20-pound female Schnauzer mix with a heart full of love to give. My past was a little rough, and my grooming and health had been neglected. I've since had some small growths removed, and while my coat is growing back beautifully, there are still some thin patches from past allergies and infections. My ears are feeling much better after treatment for a fungal infection. Despite my age, I have a great appetite, good teeth, and a healthy heart! I do have cataracts, which affect my vision, and I'm a bit hard of hearing. I'm not completely deaf, but loud noises can startle me, so it's best to let me see you if you need my attention.
Ideal Home
I would thrive in a calm adult household where someone is home part of the day to let me out every few hours. I need a home that can provide regular grooming and baths, and where you can administer my eye drops and medications. Due to arthritis in my spine, I should not be allowed to jump on or off furniture.
Ongoing Health
I have cataracts and am hard of hearing. I also experience some incontinence, which is managed with medication (Proin), but may still result in wet spots in my bedding. I require prescription eye drops twice daily for dry eye. I also take a joint supplement and a melatonin supplement for comfort and health. I have been spayed, microchipped, and am up to date on all vaccines and preventatives.
Training & Support
I am house-trained and will let you know when I need to go out. However, due to incontinence, pee pads or diapers may be helpful, and my bedding should be checked frequently. I'm shy with new dogs and people but warm up with gentle reassurance and head rubs. I appreciate quieter environments and am happy to use a crate or x-pen for rest. I sleep quietly in a crate at night and am well-behaved when left alone for a couple of hours.
