Fog is a six-year-old medium-sized American Pit Bull Terrier mix with a huge heart, even bigger smarts, and one adorably bent ear that never quite straightens out. He's been with us long enough to show his full personality: sweet, sensitive, slightly anxious in the shelter environment, and very eager to bond with someone special. He can be a little reserved when meeting new people, but once he knows you? He'll greet you like sunshine breaking through the clouds. Fog loves zooming around the yard with a ball, trail walks, training games and treat puzzles, and frozen Kongs, peanut butter, and pup cups with whipped cream. He is brilliant at training games and puzzles, and he is eager to build trust, slowly and surely.
Ideal Home
Fog would do well in a calm, consistent home where he can decompress and continue building confidence. He would also do well with children around 12 years old, on a kid-by-kid basis. He may do well with another dog, with careful introductions and a few meet-ups.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions were mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Fog has some leash manners to work on, as he tends to pull and zigzag when excited. He responds well to redirection and knows several basic cues: sit, come, wait, and stay. He can be gently lowered into a down position. While he accepts handling well, he does guard his food and space. He enjoys playing without being overly aggressive, especially with toys like tug-of-war. He may jump lightly and take a few minutes to warm up when greeting strangers, but he recovers quickly from being startled. He requires an active handler.
