Meet Toro, our pit mix who thinks he's a lapdog! Along with this big ole head comes a LOT of personality! This happy guy loves toys, and if you are looking for your daily moment of joy, you can watch Toro whip his toys in the air! If that isn't enough, Toro loves a car ride! He is a pup favorite with the ladies at his local Starbucks, where he sits like a gentleman and waits patiently for his pup cup! Toro is as sweet as can be, but he does not realize his own size or strength. He has been working on leash manners and is slowly progressing. Toro is estimated to be about 5 years young. He has spent the last 3 years in rescue, waiting for his special person. He needs a special kind of person/couple that not only has the patience but the understanding of a dog with his strength and mind. He needs to be walked daily; yard play is not enough for him, and positive stimulation is key! He hasn't met a stuffy toy he cannot conquer, and hard chew toys are his go-to. As crazy as this may sound to some, Toro would do excellent on the road as a truck dog as well; this dog literally smiles every time he's on the go!
Ideal Home
Toro adopters should be able to handle a joyfully strong dog and be willing to continue working with him on mouthiness. He can do well with other dogs who can tolerate his beefy play style, but we would like to send him to a home with no young children or cats, as he is still doesn't realize that he is not a teacup yorkie! No farm animals, please.
Ongoing Health
Toro is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Toro is still mouthy and will need consistent, thoughtful training to work on that. He requires several meet and greets, continuous training, and a really good handler - he's a strong boy! He needs to be walked daily; yard play is not enough for him, and positive stimulation is key!
