Hello world, I’m Onyx! My foster mom rescued me from Dallas Animal Services when I was very sick, and they told her my “time was up.” She took me to a doctor who said I was a good boy, and I started feeling much better. I showed my foster mom how much I appreciated my warm bed, good food, yard, and love by always being a good boy in the house. I quickly learned how to use the doggy door.
My foster mom named me Onyx because my coat reminds her of an onyx chess set. When I was sick, I didn’t have much energy, but now that I feel good, I have a lot! She says she wishes she could bottle my energy to help more of my friends. She thinks maybe she should have named me Mr. Wiggles or Velcro because I love being with her and playing with other dogs. The older dogs here don’t play much, which is a bummer.
I went to doggy boot camp where I learned to walk on a leash, sit, and come when called. I also learned to respond to a special collar that gives me a little beep to get my attention. I get very excited to see humans and sometimes jump up, but they are teaching me that’s not okay. I learned this in a big yard where I could run and play. They said I have the “zoomies” and that I’m smart and learn fast.
I’m used to my comfy crate and love cuddles and belly rubs. My foster mom takes me to the park where I love to explore. When other dogs aren’t around, she lets me run with my special collar, and I always come right back when she beeps it.
My foster mom’s goal was to save me, get me well, and teach me manners so she can help another shelter friend. I hope my furever home has a buddy and a yard for me, or a human who loves to exercise and take me along! I have a lot of energy and curiosity, and when I’m bored and no one is around, I can get into things I shouldn’t because I’m trying to entertain myself. I’m sad to leave my foster mom, but I hope telling you about myself helps me find my furever home with you. Woof, woof!
Ideal Home
My foster mom says I have a lot of energy and curiosity. I get bored when no one is around to be with, and I can get into things that I’m not supposed to. I hope my furever home has a buddy and yard for me to play with and/or a human that loves to exercise a lot and take me with!
Ongoing Health
I was very sick when I was rescued, but I am feeling much better now.
