💙✨ Meet Lazarus, affectionately known as Lazzie! ✨💙
Lazzie is a 3-4 year old, 50 lb. black Lab mix with a heart of gold and a coat that shines like polished obsidian. He's a volunteer favorite, known for his calm, gentle, and quiet demeanor. Lazzie truly enjoys the simple pleasures in life – lounging and cuddling on the bed with his canine companions and his beloved people. He's already sharing his life harmoniously with a tiny chihuahua and a 70 lb. pittie, showing he's a friend to dogs of all sizes! He recently had a fantastic time at a local adoption event, where he socialized beautifully and made many new human friends, gaining confidence with his rescue buddies by his side. He was an absolute sweetheart with every stranger he encountered.
Lazzie's journey to find his forever home is a testament to his resilience. He arrived at the rescue covered in mange and battling a respiratory infection, clearly having lacked proper veterinary care and basic kindness. Found alone in a ditch filled with trash in the harsh Texas elements, he's now healthy, strong, and as handsome as can be!
Ideal Home
Lazzie would be a wonderful addition to a home that cherishes calm companionship. He's already proven to be a great housemate, sharing his space with dogs of various sizes. Given his gentle nature, he's likely to be a wonderful companion for children and cats as well, though this is not explicitly known.

Lazzie is fully vaccinated and neutered. He has made a full recovery from his past skin and respiratory issues.
Training & Support
Lazzie is happily kennel trained and potty trained. He's also demonstrated excellent socialization skills at adoption events.

Transportation
Lazzie is located in Houston, TX. Transport is included in the adoption fee and services operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states. Pickup locations may vary, including across city, county, or state lines. We coordinate with third-party ground transport services that use converted vans or buses for dog transport. Adopters can track their dog's journey using the Life360 app and will receive updates along the way. Facebook chats are also available for transport tracking.
